We teamed up with Grammy-winner Vanessa Carlton to reimagine her iconic song "A Thousand Miles" as "A Thousand Games," celebrating John Carlson’s incredible milestone. This newsworthy tribute captured the excitement of a legendary moment in Washington Capitals history!

The image shows Vanessa Carlton sitting in front of a grand piano, which features ornate wood carvings. She is dressed casually in a red button-down shirt and blue jeans. Vanessa is smiling softly and appears relaxed, with her hands folded in her lap. The setting looks like an intimate indoor space, with soft natural light coming in through a large window behind her, and delicate curtains framing the scene. The overall mood is warm and personal, evoking a cozy and creative atmosphere.

Process

We knew we wanted to create something "sticky" for the huge milestone of John Carlson playing his 1000th game with the Capitals. What started as a funny antidote of a concept gradually became an amazing reality when we reached out to Vanessa Carlton's team and she was actually interested in recording a fully customized song! We worked to rewrite the lyrics to perfectly fit the melody of her famous track. Once the lyrics were ready, we remotely directed Vanessa, who recorded the new vocals from her home, keeping the production authentic and personal. Despite the distance, we seamlessly integrated her voice into the final video, which became a fun and heartfelt tribute to both Vanessa’s classic and John’s incredible achievement.
