NCAA Olympians Made Here: Passport to Paris

Animation

Hundreds of current and former NCAA athletes were getting ready to head to Paris for the 2024 Olympic Games, and we commemorated their journey by sending them there on a paper airplane!

An animated scene in a paper cutout style. A crowd of people stand in front of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris cheering while a paper airplane flies through the air.

Results

Fresh Tape Media created an easy-to-use template for the NCAA team to create fully customized video assets that welcomed athletes to the Olympic or Paralympic team! With the provision of assets straight to the schools and athletes, NCAA saw at least 200+ of these videos posted and shared amongst collegiate audiences.

Process

Once we were aligned on a mood board that depicted an aesthetic vision for the final result, we set about designing the scenes involved as 2D vectors so that shapes and colors would all be decided before bringing the scene to life in Maya. From there, we rebuilt the scene in Maya, lit it, and animated the airplane traveling to 5 different Paris landmarks, which could be swapped around on the templates for a variety of styles.
