With every Draft, we want to ensure that the newcomers to the League feel like we pulled out all the stops just for them! The 2024 WNBA Draft activations sparkle with elegance, capturing the first-round draftees in all their glory, glitz and glam at two media stations.

Rickea Jackson is seated in a luxurious setting, wearing a sparkling, light-colored suit with a deep neckline. Her long, dark hair is styled in waves, and she is accessorized with diamond rose-colored glasses, a diamond necklace and matching earrings. The background features a glittery, gold backdrop with some greenery and neon lights, adding to the opulent atmosphere.

Strategy

We knew we wanted to try and maximize access and experience with this amazing top-tier draft class so opted to create both a photo stop and a video station. First, we created a stunning space titled "Gilded Armor" inspired by Kira Kira filter where athletes could strike a post and share their images on their own social media profiles, ensuring they felt glamorous and celebrated. Second, we set up a magic mirror to surprise each player with a personalized message welcoming them to the league and making the moment uniquely theirs—creating two unforgettable, customized experiences. The Gilded Armor set was a hit, big names such as Taylor Rooks and Ari Chambers also took photos on the set and shared to their personal profile. All teams and first-round Draftees shared their own photos as well from the set.

Caitlin Clark is wearing a stylish white matching set outfit consisting of a long-sleeved jacket and a matching skirt. The Prada jacket is open, revealing a sparkling, silver Prada crop top underneath. The outfit is accessorized with an Indiana Fever brooch on the jacket and a bracelet on the wrist. The background features a glittering, gold backdrop with the WNBA logo.
Angel Reese is seated on a gold-colored chair, wearing a sparkling silver dress with a hood. The background features a glittery gold wall with a neon outline of the WNBA logo. There are green plants in gold pots on either side of the chair. Angel Reese is wearing silver high-heeled Louboutin shoes and has a bracelet on her left wrist.
Cameron Brink is standing in front of a glittery, gold backdrop, wearing a black and white dress with a cut-out design and a high slit on the left side. The dress features a single shoulder strap with a black flower detail on the right shoulder. She is holding a gold crown on their head that reads "WNBA" with their right hand. The background includes neon light of the WNBA logo.

Magic Mirror Activation

Working alongside the WNBA to collect meaningful and timely messages to surprise the Draftees, we programmed these messages into a magic mirror. Athletes were then asked to get right in the mirror when a video from a teammate, coach or family member would accentuate what an amazing achievement this night was. Reactions from athletes were great and we were able to turn around all first-round picks in a timely manner for WNBA to share.

Process

Knowing with this class of Draftees, we had the opportunity to convert many new WNBA fans to follow the league, we wanted to make sure we were catching attention and keeping the momentum of stars like Angel Reese, Caitlin Clark, Alissa Pili, Cameron Brink, and more! After initial chats with the WNBA team, we crafted these mocks, bringing the golden glitz and glamour to the forefront to complement the women's guaranteed stunning outfits! In tandem, we tested loads of fabrics to see how they bunched and made sure we got the appropriate amount of sparkle while working with a local team to provide plants so they wouldn't be put to waste post-capture.
