"Jags '95" Schedule Release

Animation

In honor of the X-Men '97 relaunch, we partnered with the Jags to reimagine their top players as superheroes, going head-to-head with rival teams in their schedule release. The custom animations fused football and comic book action in an unforgettable showdown that took the internet by storm.

A comic-style illustration featuring Jaguars players reimagined as superheroes, each wearing distinctive costumes, like the tv show X-Men. The players stand in front of bold, retro-styled lettering that reads "JAGS '95," with "Jaguars Studios" above. The players are depicted with a mix of classic superhero powers, such as wings, strength, and energy blasts, embracing the comic book aesthetic. The image evokes a nostalgic superhero vibe while representing the Jacksonville Jaguars in a powerful, dynamic way.

Strategy

Tapping into the internet’s love of all things retro, we created a schedule release that fused nostalgia with superhero action. Reimagining the team’s top players as powerful X-Men-style heroes, each animation highlighted their unique strengths while going head-to-head with rival teams as villains.

Process

We selected key Jaguars players and brainstormed how each of them would appear including their outfits and superpowers. Next, we reimagened each rival team as villains—this was especially fun when the team's mascot was an inanimate object. Next, we created style frames that detailed each characters' unique outfits, powers, and weapons. Once we determined who was going to duke it out, we mocked up storyboards and proceeded to animation where each hero showcased their strengths as they battled their ultimate foes.

In an animated style, Trevor Lawrence wears a Jags superhero costume with lasers coming out of his eyes as he takes on the Tennessee Titans villain who dons a Titans helmet and seems to be a kind of masked man. He is holding a jar of mayo as the two are about to meet in combat.
The Wolverine-styled Jaguars' Josh Allen is charting a course on his ship when the Patriots supervillain breaks down the door and teases him to bring it on. The Jags player smiles and extends his Wolverine claws, ready for the battle.
The Jets villain is destroying the city, shooting lasers out of his hands and holding a folder that says "my own research" he is green and silver and is preparing for a showdown.
Initial styleframes for the opponents including the Green Bay Packers and the Houston Texans. Gridiron is a mechanical, robot humanoid villain who dons a Cheesehead while Toro is an anthropomorphic bull with horns on his head and a cowboy hat. He is dressed head to toe in Spanish Bullfighter attire complete with a red cape.
From left to right there are three character styles from the front, profile and posed. Trevor Lawrence as Cyclops Character Description: To merge Trevor’s likeness with cyclops, we’ll be helped greatly by Trevor’s long hair and distinctive face. He will don the horizontal eyepiece with a red line. Travis Etienne as Colossus Character Description: To merge Travis’ likeness with Colossus, we’ll essentially affix his head to Colossus’ body. Include the Jags headband pictured on the right. Maintain metallic skin color on Travis Colossus. Jaxson de Ville as Beast Character Description: To merge Jaxon with Beast, affixing his head to Beast’s body.
